Ingrid's Magical Journey

I feel that I need to write this article because I imagine that there are a lot of people like me that think they are useless because they didn't achieve much at school. This is so NOT TRUE. I am 59 years old and, after a lifetime of feeling inferior and lacking in confidence, I achieved my dreams and more.

I met Pat Senior many years ago and helped with her greyhound rescue. Pat could write, paint and sing.

“If only I could do something like that!” I said.

“What is stopping you?” she asked.

I just laughed at her “Me, write a story. You must be joking. I was bottom of the class in English.”

“So,” she snapped at me, “You have an imagination, don't you?”

Well, I could not deny that I was one of the biggest daydreamers imaginable. I could think up all sorts of things in my head.

Whilst working for Pat and her 11 dogs, I started to watch a little black terrier called Butch. Butch had no eyes, they had been removed after he went blind. They were constantly infected and irritated. Butch coped admirably finding his way about the house by smell and occasionally bumping into things. I started to daydream about “Wouldn't it be good if he could see” and I started to write my first story entitled “Butch and the Magic Broomstick” which has been published.

Since then, I have gone on to write various stories and my latest are now out on CD entitled “The Cat's Choir sing Christmas Carols” and “Little Merle and The Magic Kingdom”.

I have also helped Pat complete a 30 foot mural for a infant school.

The moral of this story is that “Nothing is Impossible If You Believe”. If I can do it then anyone can. Pat, who is affectionately known as “The Angel in Hobnail Boots”, gave me the confidence to succeed. She is an Earth Angel with attitude, and the boots are significant as they gave me a kick up the backside when I needed it.

I have also qualified at Level 1, Level 2, Masters and Teachers Levels in Reiki.

This is just the start of my journey and, with the Angel in Hobnail Boots behind me, the sky is the limit.
